Cant find downloaded app on iphone

Same thing happened to me and I was sure I had synced the app to my phone. I could find it by searching but it definitely wasn't anywhere as an icon, alone or in a folder.
I organized most of my apps into folders and reduced down to 6 pages Then had to reboot and lo and behold, there it was - along with half a page of icons for other apps that I had forgotten about and weren't showing up before! I now have two folders full of "task lists" to try out, for instance! You can see I really do desperately need a proper task list, if I ever find time to find the right one. Apple should incorporate a warning message when we reach that magic 11 page limit, at least I like to be told by my gadgets when I'm about to do something stupid.

They won't even appear in search results or be accessible via Siri. If you did that accidentally, you may at times get confused wondering where your apps have gone. Worry not! All your downloaded apps are in the App Library. And to avoid future confusion, you can learn more about hiding and unhiding the Home Screen pages. When you have an app downloaded on your iPhone, the app's page on the App Store page says Open or Update.
If the app is not downloaded, it says Get or shows the download icon. After you hide a purchase, it doesn't appear in your or your family member's list of App Store purchases.
